Xiaomi has clearly raised some eyebrows by launching its new POCO series with POCO F1 with Flagship Specs & Liquid-cool technology offered at a mid-range segment price. Xiaomi is clearly in the competition with the likes of OnePlus 6 & Asus Zenfone 5Z which are around Rs.30,000 price mark. Though the specs are fantastic on paper, the users have been facing some stability issues out of the box.

Xiaomi doesn’t have a good reputation when it comes to providing regular updates, but it promises to provide regular updates with the POCO F1. Whether this proves to be correct with the big test of rolling out Android Pie updates remains yet to be concluded which is said to roll out in the fourth quarter this year. Recently, Xiaomi rolled out an update addressing the bug fixes & improving overall performance.

But, Xiaomi’s Poco is rolling out yet another update for the POCO F1 in the form of MIUI 9.6.18 to take into account more bug fixes. So, Xiaomi’s Poco is taking the update game seriously this time. The new OTA update weights around 335 MB in size addressing multiple concerns & also includes the July Security patch.

Camera Tweaks:

The UI of the camera app is now optimized considerably so that it will open up faster as soon as it is launched. Along with this, the camera app in the POCO F1 will be able to process the pictures faster than before to get the crisp quality pictures that its camera hardware is capable of producing.

Not only this but, the placement of the face beautification mode in the selfie camera UI is easy to access from the same screen, you can now simply select the beautify mode while clicking selfies & set the bar from level 1 – level 5 as per your liking or simply turn it off if you want a natural look.

Virtual Buttons Tweaks:

Previously the alignment of the virtual navigation buttons wasn’t properly calibrated with the center of the screen. Now that problem is solved by perfectly aligning the buttons making the navigation smooth & precise.

Optimized Recorder App:

The recorder app had this small problem where it wasn’t using the noise-cancellation microphone rendering the whole recording noisy, in this new update, the recorder app now will be able to use the noise-cancellation microphone along with its primary microphone making the recording with no disturbing noises in it.

Deletion of the Mi Roaming App:

Xiaomi was able to bring the price down for the POCO F1 by adding some bloatware to it. Well, one such app was the Mi roaming app which had the functionality to buy roaming packs of other operators without physically changing the SIM cards.

Xiaomi has noticed the unpopularity of the Mi roaming app with the users & they ended up removing the app completely to make the device somewhat bloatware-free.

The Poco f1 new OTA update also seems to have improved the launch times of all the apps because some users had the complaints about some apps not launching previously.

Do notice that the update is going to arrive in batches so not every POCO F1 user is going to receive the OTA update simultaneously. If you want to check whether the update has been out for your POCO F1 then go to Settings > About phone > System update > Check for updates. Well, do share in the comments about your experiences after the new update, until next time, Adios!
